Purpose of Art in the Park

Art in the Park is a placemaking initiative and tourist attraction for Lewis County that also works to build and facilitate new connections with our Lewis County arts community. Art in the Park is an opportunity for local artists to showcase their work with the community and visitors while also adding color and local flair to our parks.

Naturally Lewis launched the Art in the Park initiative in 2023 after being approached by a local creative Amanda Drake, owner of Rags and Rivers, brought the idea of an Art Walk forward. For the 3rd Annual event in 2025 - Amanda will be spearheading the event while transitioning it away from Naturally Lewis and more towards a volunteer lead community event!

What is an Art Walk?

An art walk is an organized yearly event wherein outdoor venues across Lewis County host artists and displays of their artwork. The exposure can help an artist build awareness of their work in the community. If their work is already well-known, it can help them maintain their local presence and “brand awareness.” Original artwork can be purchased through the artist.

The third annual Art Walk will feature weatherproof and fade-resistant outdoor displays displayed at the Riverside Park in Lyons Falls from September 12, 2025 through October 13, 2025, with the Grand Opening of the Art Walk held in conjunction with the Food Truck Fridays Lewis County event on September 12, 2025. This Art Walk will feature two dimensional arts including drawings, paintings, prints, digital art and photographs.

What is an Art Walk?

We are seeking local artists to share their talents with the
community! If you are an artist looking to apply, here’s what you need to know:

  • This year's theme is Rural Life - Your piece should reflect the theme
  • Open to artists of all ages
  • Works must have been completed in the last three years.
  • All works must be original, and the artist must own all rights to the images contained therein.
  •  Eligible artwork includes drawings, paintings, prints, digital art, and photographs.
  • Artists must submit a high-resolution digital file of their artwork for consideration. Due to the outdoor nature of the event, original art works will not be accepted.
  • Up to three (3) pieces can be submitted per artist.

A local Art in the Park Committee composed of artists, teachers, and community members will evaluate the submissions based on creativity, originality, technique, and skill to determine the top 25 submissions to be printed for display in the park. The committee will look for a variety of mediums to demonstrate diversity in the works represented.

Artists can provide their contact information, website, and information about how to purchase their artwork. And this information will be featured on Rags and Rivers Facebook page throughout the Art in the Park event to gain more exposure!

After the exhibit closes, the artists are gifted the 24” x 36” print to keep or sell.



The Grand Opening

Food Truck Fridays Lewis County typically feature food trucks, live music, and lawn games at various parks around the County throughout the summer! Art in the Park is excited to partner with Food Truck Fridays for the Grand Opening on September 12, 2025 at the Lyons Falls Riverside Park. 

What to expect? Grab some food, enjoy some live music and check out the art displays! Artists are encouraged to attend the Grand Opening and periodically visit the Art Walk to interact with viewers and discuss their work.
