Winter Haven - Watercolor
My inspiration comes from a stream where we love to go kayaking. I often wonder what it may look like in the winter. I enjoy applying the watercolor paint and allow it to flow wherever it likes and go from there. I feel that nature is magical. I'm amazed by the beauty of nature. And how much we take the beauty of it for granted.
Natilie Liscum
About Natilie...
She is 15 years old and loves everything about art... when I was little, I would always draw and paint. Then, I met my first art teacher when I entered school, she always saw the best in me. When I entered middle school/high school I met a new art teacher she too saw potential in me and pushed me to my hardest but if she wouldn't have done that, I wouldn't have continued my art career... most people would pick one of the famous artists to be inspired by I picked my high school and middle school art teacher. She always saw the best in me and when I wasn't sure about a material, I was using she would push me. She helped me find my style of art and helped me find what I was good at. I enjoy using bright colors and I like to make things not make sense.

The Arcade - Colored Pencil
This piece makes no sense we are outside but also at the arcade, with so many arcade games they get smaller as they get farther back... there is an eyeball in the center with the nerve still connected to it. This piece is inspired by my own creativity and the famous artist Salvador Dali, who believes in surrealism. Dali had visions also can be called dream like states. He would fall into a trance between being awake and asleep there he would have visions of unnatural things like his famous melting clocks in the desert. Salvador is one of my biggest inspirations (other than my current art teacher) who also helped me find my style.
In my piece there is the outdoors and an arcade which both can be magical for a kid or anyone really... everyday magic, when you wake up you see beautiful trees and fields that were all built for us, and the arcade you walk in and it's like you are in a dreams with all the lights and sounds and games. This piece represents what our lord has made for us and what man has made. We all can walk outside and see grass the grass God himself made. This piece also can also connect kids or anyone else to the outdoors.

She is a local amateur artist, mother of two, and grandmother to the cutest baby on the planet, Miss Olivia Jean.

Beautiful Regrets - Acrylic on Canvas
My inspiration is a beautiful piece of driftwood that I regretfully left behind on a remote beach, while on vacation last year. It's magical that something as mundane as a piece of discarded wood, can in the end, become beautiful.
Jess Norrs
About Jess...
Photography has always been a meaningful outlet for me. I have always enjoyed capturing fleeting moments in time. Much of my inspiration comes from time exploring outdoors. My dog, Bandit, has been an adventure partner, joining me on planned trips and he's taken me on some unplanned adventures as well.

Every Day is Beautiful - Photography
Moments of the everyday beauty found within the Adirondacks with my dog, Bandit! This photo perfectly captures our adventures together and the everyday magic of nature!
Audrey Paige Emerson
About Audrey...
She grew up a few miles from Lyons Falls Park, though now lives and works in St. Lawrence County as a Forest Ranger. I am a self-taught artist and naturalist, and nature is the main focus of my artwork. When I am not creating artwork or at my "day job," I enjoy paddling, biking, hiking, skiing, and a variety of other outdoor activities. All my family still reside in the Lyons Falls area, so I visit and recreate here frequently. I hope you'll enjoy my artwork!

Wood Ducks at Sunset - Colored Pencil
Inspired by watching pond life in my backyard. This piece features a pair of wood ducks floating in the water at sunset. These ducks are common here, but their colors, as well as the colors in the sunset's reflection, are like magic.
Trout Season - Colored Pencil
This piece is inspired by all the water resources in this part of NY and the life within. Trout fishing is very popular here, so I created this to capture the light and movement of these native beauties. I believe the way the light filtering through the water and shining off the colorful scales of the fish depicts a bit of "everyday magic".

Lewey Lake - Photography
I am inspired by the beauty and magic all around us, this photograph was taken on a trip to Lewey Lake on a camping trip this summer. We can find magic in the everyday, all around us. Nature is magical in so many ways, and this photograph shows the beauty of it all.

Ashlin Poppleton
About Ashlin...
She is an acrylic artist from Boonville, New York. I have enjoyed art since I was a little girl and have always found painting very therapeutic as it is a way to fully express yourself and have full range to create your very own masterpiece! ☺️

Luna Moonlight - Acrylic
On a 11x14 sized canvas I used all acrylic paints to create this Luna moth painting, I always love seeing these beautiful little creatures out in nature they are so fascinating. The Luna moth’s brief life span as an adult (just a week or so) invites a meditation on the beauty of fleeting moments. In an age where we often rush through life, the idea of stopping to appreciate something as delicate and temporary as the Luna moth becomes a form of everyday magic. It reminds us to find joy in the present moment and see the magic in things that don't last forever.

Beautiful Reflections - Photography
This is a photography piece that I took on the Moose River Road in Lyonsdale a few years ago in the fall. Sometimes while I'm out driving, I feel the need to stop and take in the magic all around us and this was one of those days. The reflections in the water are truly magic!
Megan Kleine
About Megan...
She is the High School Art Teacher at South Lewis. My husband and I are living in Lyons Fall where we are raising our 4 children.
Sunset on Whiteface 2024 - Photography
My husband and I had been hiking most of the day, we started out late morning with the hopes that the highway would be closed by the time we had reached the top. We summited at 7pm and had the mountain to ourselves to close out our summer adventures. Everyday hundreds of people visit the summit of Whiteface. Because we chose to hike it, the gift of having the summit and the cool aired sunset to ourselves was the magic of the day.

Anne Huntress
About Anne...
She started writing during the pandemic and after writing a few bible studies and Middle Grade animal allegories, had an idea about how to popularize and publicize our lovable village monster. Thanks to the St. Lawrence Arts Council Community Regrant Program, I was able to author and publish this Children's Book. Please grab a copy from Amazon.com or from Anne directly.

The Monster of Lyons Falls - Book Cover
This is the cover to a Children's/Middle Grade book that will be published in September. I was awarded the Individual Artist Grant through the St. Lawrence County Arts Council Re-Grant Program which allowed me to collect oral, written, rumored, and documented accounts of the mystical creature that resides in the Black River, bordering our little village. In my fictitious compilation of the various tales, Hunter (12) struggles through each day with a severe stutter. Upon hearing about the possibility of a local monster residing in the nearby river, he decides that searching for her would be a good, quiet way to spend Spring Break. Along with his trusted pet turtle, he semi-unwillingly teams up with the boisterous new girl, Annie, to research historical accounts and explore various locations around the water’s edge. The trio decides to document their efforts via video and become unexpected celebrities as more and more people become involved in the hunt.
This is a fictitious account of a possibly real monster. Each chapter is followed by ancillary “evidence” and other related paperwork connected to their lives and their search. Readers are encouraged to follow the clues and then enjoy their own adventures. Is the monster real or just in the imagination of many residents? Readers are encouraged to follow the clues and then enjoy their own adventures.
